Moving from sun-drenched Florida to Pittsburgh where almost everything is cold, dreary, and dead for half the year left me craving warm spaces filled with green things. During my graduate schooling years in an apartment I grew cucumbers in my windowsill (they indentations where they grew up against the blinds!). When I graduated and moved into a house I glassed in my 5×8′ back stoop and grew tomatoes and herbs and flowers. In 2017, my dad helped me build an official greenhouse and now I’m cranking up the throttle with 8′ tomatoes, bananas, citrus, and all sorts of fun stuff!
